Cell Phone Island’s

April 29, 2008

Did you know there were such Islands?? Yeah, you’re probably living on one right now! Sounds foolish? well just hear me out for a few.Have you been in a elevator recently, and the person coming in is on the cell phone, walks in, walks out and doesn’t even say “Hey”. Or better yet,you walk into a room of people, lets say a waiting room, or lobby and you’re on your cell phone chatting away because you don’t wanna take the time to say hello. Man what kinda world we living in, when we can’t even take the time out to interact with people around us? I know most everyone reading this is guilty of the following senerio: You’ll be ina conversation with a friend, and their phone rings( with some annoying ring tone by the way), and they, without hesitation, pick up the phone and start beeting up there gums while all the time ignoring you, there “Friend”. When I was growing up, if someone rudely butted in a conversation , that was considered most disrespectful . You would’ve got the reaction “who pulled your chain?” or “who’s talking to you?”. But now it’s perfectly normal to consider the person on the phone more important than the one in person. That’s garbage in my opinion, big time! I might as well tell ye,if some one puts me on hold to talk to the one coming in, I hang up. My interpretation of call waiting is” You don’t count, the one calling in does!” Since moving over here to Utah,I’ve actually seen me walking along side someone, and them feel so uncomfortable that they might have to actually say something, that they pick up there phone and start playing with it.Now thats a heap of foolishness! I don’t care you are. It seems people are so caught up in there own world, that they’re saying”how dare you come into my world and be friendly, don’t you see I’m on my Island?” You might not realize or not, but we’re bring up a whole new generation of children that don’t have a clue about respect ,being polite, having just plain ol’ common manners,or just holding a descent conversation without creating there own language,(TEXTING!!!!) hey I might as well tell ye, the day one of my children ever sends me a text while we’re both inside our house,,,that’ll be trouble in da camp bi’.

So the next time your phone rings while you’re talking with someone else, have some good ol’ fashion values and call’em back. Trust me, it won’t be the end of the world as we know it! Tho I’m not sure if the world of today is the one I want to remember?

the “dino dime”,,,,”get off you’re Cell Phone Island” the real estate there is to expensive; the price to pay is you’re integrity,,,,, bring it on back to ya Island Boy!

Good day to be alive!

Amen. If you can reed this you have so much to be thankful for. Sure there’s debt, house mortgages, broken down cars on and on and on right? Hey but guess what? you can see! Did you stop and thank God today for your eye sight? No doubt there’s a whole of people in the world today that’ll trade with you in second your debt for eye sight. When you wake up in the morning and think, man I gotta go to work again today? think about how many people in this country alone can’t even get up!! We could go on talking about our blessings all day long. What I’m trying to say is stay positive and live for today, yesterday’s gone and you can’t do nothing about tomorrow, so focus on the moment. I used to tell my Grandma, who’d worry all the time”Ma, worrying is just like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but gets you no where!” So live in the moment, taking time to appreciate God’s creation, and greet the next person you pass by with a smile on your face cus you now love Life! When someone says to you,it’s good to see you, say “yep, I’d rather be seen than viewed!” ; )

A Short History of Me.

Well if you wondered here it was no accident, nope, I don’t believe in’em. Now before I go any further, let me tell you a lil bit about my self. I was born and grew up in “The Bahamas”, on the Island of “Spanish Wells”. My education was one of hard knocks, in other words experience was my teacher and in my opinion there is no better. Now, I might as well tell you that people say that us Islanders talk with an accent? well guess what? I type like I talk! No proper grammer here buddy or spelling for that matter, so when you come across a mis spelled word, smile and move on because this programe don’t have spell check, and I’ve already had to look up 3 words in my dictionary, to much time roger.
Ok, now with that, lets move on . I want this blog site to be a place where you can come and cool out. Me and my family moved over here to the States 1 year ago this month. From the beach to the mountains,WOW! talk about a culture shock! Hey but we love it, all of Gods creation is beautiful and fun to enjoy.I’ve spent my whole life under water chassing Lobster’s and fish, now I’m 5,000 ft above sea level! Now that’s what I’m talking about.
If your sitting there looking at the screen thinking? what in the world is this dumb Bahamian beeting up his gums bout? Well my answer is simply this. Everyone I’ve met since I’ve been here seems to have the same reaction.”Where you from? and what you doing here!” some how or another my answer always seems to bring a smile on peoples faces, and that my friend is what life’s all about.
Call it Island culture or just plain contentment in life, but my friends say my opinions and my and my out look on life, is contagious and I need to some how get it to more people, thats the purpose of this blog. Now please remember I’m no Dr. of any kind, way, shape or form! but, having a positive attitude on life and always looking at the glass half full, always finding the good is situations, is gotta count for something right?
So wayasay, pull up a chair and lets chat for a while. I’ve noticed since I’ve been here in America everyone’s way to stressed and trying to work 25 hours a day making money to buy things they don’t need, to impress people they don’t like! what ye call that??
Ok, ya’ll got da mic now,,,,bring in on back and talk to ya Island boy,,,,,,,,
